Old Havana is the historic center of Havana, the capital of Cuba. This area was formed from the XVI century. A unique place on the territory of which there are a huge number of architectural and cultural monuments. The whole area and its historical and cultural attractions are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The general list of attractions includes almost 1000 objects.
Havana Cathedral or Cathedral of St. Christopher in Havana — Catholic Cathedral, located in the Old Havana at the Palace de La Cienaga (“Swamp square”). This magnificent building in a Baroque colonial style, built in 1777, of hewn stone slabs of coral limestone. Like the whole area around, the Cathedral was listed by UNESCO as a world heritage site. The interior of the Cathedral is decorated with paintings by Veremey, Rubens and Murillo, as well as sculptures by Bianchini.
